Making the Annapolis Valley a better place for LGBTQ youth and our allies

A few items from our library

This week’s drop-in is our chance to show off our brand new library collection.  You can check out the books and even take some home.  Bring your suggestions for what we should acquire next, and we’ll start a wish list, too!  There are books about people who are boys and girls and both and neither, dykes and gay guys and gender-non-binary queers, books about transition, and books about trans characters that aren’t about them being trans.  Graphic novels, literary fiction, memoirs… well, see for yourself: our whole catalogue is online.

We’ll also bring our proposed new transportation plan, so you can let us know your ideas and suggestions.  Starting in April, we’ll be providing free transportation to Drop-In for those who need it, using either M&G cabs or Kings Point-to-Point.  Come to drop-in to hear all about it, and let us know how to make it work for you before it starts.

Drop In runs from 6:30 – 8:30PM, in Room 128 of the Louis Millet Community Complex (LMCC), at 9489 Commercial St., New Minas. If you’re new to the LMCC, once inside you can follow the VYP signs to the room with the rainbow flag hanging over the door. If you’re taking Kings Transit, you can get off at the Flower Cart or the Ken Wo golf course. The LMCC is a short walk between these two bus stops. Check the bus schedule here http://Kings Transit.  We have free  bus tickets you can pick up at Drop In, if you need them.  If you have any questions use the Contact Us button or leave a comment and we’ll get back to you with an answer.

All LGBTQ+, and MOGAI youth, 25 years old and under, and your friends are welcome. There is no registration or membership to sign up for. Just show up for fun, food, good company and conversation.

    Hi all!

We would love to hear more about the transportation teaser. Joel was away for the break and transportation has become an issue for him attending. Could you please send me some info about what was discussed to see if this works for us. Thanks, Shelley Corkum

  2. Hi Shelley, thanks for being in touch. After gathering some feedback from drop-in participants last week, the transportation policy is now available for participants to use. You can see our announcement here, and read the full policy under the Transportation Request tab. Let us know if that seems like it would work for you, and don’t hesitate to send along any suggestions for how to make it better.
