We can pay your cab/van fare to and from Valley Youth Project activities for participants from Kings, Hants, or Annapolis County!
You must sign up by 3:30pm, two business days before the event. For a Wednesday night drop-in, that means we can take requests until Monday at 3:30pm. We’ll confirm your pickup time no later than 3:30 Wednesday afternoon for regular drop-ins.
Pick-up/Drop Off Time and Place
Please choose pick-up/drop-off locations that are safe and easy to get to. That can be your home, school, or any other place that works for you, in Kings, Hants, or Annapolis Counties.
Kings Point-To-Point Transit, Hants County Dial-A-Ride, Trans Country Transportation Society, or M&G Cabs will pick you at the place you choose and drive you to the activity location in time to arrive as it begins. For a normal drop-in, that would be the Louis Millett Community Centre at 6:30pm. Then you’ll be picked up at the end of the activity (normally 8:30pm), and driven to the drop-off location you choose. Cab/van drivers can’t provide extra stops along the way, or arrange for arriving/leaving at other times. Also note that the drivers will not take you anywhere else besides the activity location… sorry, no trips to Disneyland this time around!
When Should I Book?
It’s helpful (and saves the VYP some money) if you can book 2 or more days in advance (for example, Friday or Monday before a Wednesday drop-in). But, you can book or cancel up to 3 hours before drop-in (up to 3:30pm on Wednesday). Keep in mind the travel time to New Minas from your location; if you are a 2-hour drive away, you’ll need to book at least 4 hours in advance, so the cab has time to get to you.
A driver and cab with either Kings Point-To-Point Transit , Hants County Dial-A-Ride, Trans County Transportation Society, or M&G Cabs will pick you up, depending on where you’re coming from and how early you book. You might be sharing a ride with another drop-in participant if they live on the way. If you have concerns about this, please let us know and we will do our best to work with you.
Safety and Legal Stuff
Although the VYP will pay your fare, in every other way this is exactly the same as any other time you take a cab. As with any travel, make sure someone you trust knows where you’re going and when you plan to be back. The Valley Youth Project will do our best to make sure your transportation is as safe as possible. But, please note that you, not the VYP, are responsible for yourself and your belongings while traveling.
Please be considerate of other users and help us make this service free for everyone who needs it: don’t book trips if you don’t need them, don’t book trips for any reason other than getting to VYP activities, and if you can’t make it, please cancel at least 3 hours in advance so we won’t be billed for the trip.
Note: Although we hope we’ll never need to, we reserve the right to refuse transportation for any reason. If that ever happens, you’ll be notified beforehand.
Request a Drive
Once we receive your request, we’ll get back to you (normally 2 days in advance) to confirm the time you’ll be picked-up/dropped-off.
REMEMBER: We will leave you a message to confirm. If you don’t get a message, you’re not signed up!
